Melbourne graffiti, Banksy and The Guardian

It appears that the well known stencil artist from the UK, Banksy, has written an article which appeared on the front page of the UK Guardian last Friday about Melbourne City Council removing graffiti from parts of the city because of the Commonwealth Games.

I can't say i have noticed the disappearance of graffiti from little old Melbourne town, but then again, i can't remember the last time i caught a train either. The article makes for interesting reading and raises some good points.

"Melbourne and London are genuine epicentres of the skewed human touch that can bring a little sparkle into the drudgery of public space. A feat that is of immense value, despite its apparent worthlessness. And a feat that is not so easily achieved by trying to run around a track in under four minutes."
