Keeping an eye on the bushfires
Posted by Mick (SplaTT) Stanic under: Personal; Upper Yarra Valley .
The blog posting has been awfully quiet here at SplaTT’s blog for the past month as i have been up at the country place in the gorgeous Upper Yarra Valley keeping an eye on it while the bushfires that started in early February 2009 have been burning in the nearby forests.
If you are interested, the property is on the southern fringes of what DSE and the CFA are calling the “Kilmore East – Murrindindi Complex South” in the Warburton Valley.
The important and non-replaceable items have been removed from the house to a safer location, the property is pretty clear of flammable material, sprinklers are mounted on the roof, the house is surrounded by buckets full of water and multiple hoses are at the ready with three different sources of water available…that’s my bushfire plan.
We will return to normal programming (and some interesting updates) as soon as the bushfire threat has eased.
