A truly epic film
Posted by Mick (SplaTT) Stanic under: Movies .
I just got back from the cinema after watching the truly epic (and long) film by Baz Luhrmann, “Australia” (wikipedia).
They certainly don’t make films like this one that often, so i would recommend that you all get out and see it at the cinema because your home entertainment system just won’t do the visuals and the sound justice when it gets around to be released on DVD in a few months time. Though saying that, this one will definitely end up in my DVD collection.
On one of my little “expeditions” in 2002 through “SA, WA and the NT, i spent some time traveling through some of the areas that they filmed the movie at and it certainly brought back some great memories of the place.
The causeway crossing the Ord River near Kununurra (WA).

DSCVRY on the north side of Wyndham (WA).

DSCVRY on the Karunjie Track near Mt Cockburn North, south of Wyndham (WA).

Mt Cockburn North, south of Wyndham (WA).

A claypan on the Karunjie Track near Mt Cockburn North, south of Wyndham (WA).

The Chamberlain River crossing on the Gibb River Road (WA).

Truly spectacular country :)
