According to what i just read over at Engadget, SGI (or Silicon Graphics) is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
:(
These guys made the most kickass machines of the 90’s and they were used by everyone from animators through to the military. I had a chance to use them in the mid 1990’s when i was doing work for the Australian Military project managing the development of desktop based training simulators and consulting on the then emerging technologies of the mutimedia, internet and Virtual Reality.
Not only were they kickass amchines…but the came in the best colours like blue, purple and teal and they had the coolest names like IRIS, Indigo, Indy, O2, Octane, Onyx and Origin. The also made the awesome Reality Engines.

Checking out their site just now, it seems that they have recently gone back to the good old names and the standout boxes with the Fuel, Tezro and Origin.
It’s truly a sad day but they hope to see the light on the other side. Best of luck guys…it would be a shame to see you go.
