Mazda blog comes unstuck

Posted by Mick (SplaTT) Stanic under: Advertising / Marketing .

Well, well…..the power of the bloggers….The Mazda 3 blog that went live last week some time, has been pulled after a number of people (yes…bloggers) pointed out that the blog was really a marketing tool designed to push three viral 30 second TVC’s to an unsuspecting blogging community.

I have to give the agency behind the idea some credit…at least they know what a blog is, but…c’mon guys…this is one of the real powers behind blogging. We think its great that we now all have access to easily publish what ever we want when ever…but with that comes some level of responsibility. And common sense tends to dictate that you don’t try and bite the had that feeds you….or that you wnat ot feed you by buying your product or service.

People, you may like to call them consumers but i find that word leaves a bitter taste in my mouth these days, don’t like being treated like idiots, and while you may be able to fool the average person who spends all their time watching TV, i think its pretty safe to say (that at the moment) the average blog writer or reader would have be considered to fit into a slightly higher psychographic profile. These are teh sort of people thattracked down the company hosting the video on the Mazda 3 blog, only to find (according to one of the blogs)that it is one of the more expensive dedicated hosting providers around.

Has this blog gone completely? I keep reading about it but have obviously missed it.

Yep…they pulled it as soon as the bad press (blog posts) started to rise…
