Telstra / Starbucks vs. Nerdband wifi

Posted by Mick (SplaTT) Stanic under: Mobile Technology .

OK, this is just funny…

I go into the Starbucks in Canberra’s civic shopping area (visiting friends for the weekend) to get a coffee and while i am there i pick up a brochure for the Telstra / Starbucks wifi joint venture. So i grab a coffee and sit outside to give the wifi a go with my i-mate pocket pc…I fire it up to connect, and what do I find?

The first open wifi hotspot I find is a free hotspot called Nerdband…now that has to be something they didn’t expect…hmm…free wifi or pay per the minute/hour wifi???

Which one do you think I am currently connected to?? :)

Hi! :-) I tried to connect to Nerdband with my Pocket PC, but I’ve never done it before and I couldn’t seem to get any web access. Is there some kinda trick to it? I’m obviously missing something!

L :-)
