1st Australian GeekDinner a success….

They came, they drank and they were merry….

The 1st Australian GeekDinner, during Tech.Ed in Canberra, was a raging success (photo’s here)…After the last session of the day at Tech.Ed, a number of us headed up to King O’Malley’s Irish Pub in Canberra’s Civic centre and what did we find??? A veritable gaggle of geeks…Moving the venue from a cafe to a pub turned out to be a good idea, especially in Australia,…we might not have had WiFi, but we had beer…Guinness to be exact.
At its peak, we must have close to 30 geeks all chatting and drinking and eating (thnx Microsoft)…a great way to meet fellow geeks and to network in a less formal situation than the conference…As i had metioned in earlier posts, we were hoping that Eric Rudder (Microsoft VP) was going to attend, but he only flew into Australia that day and was probably asleep by the time we got stuck into it :( maybe next time…
A huge thanx to Mark Baartse and Frank Arrigo for growing the rumour and having faith in the evening…hopefully the first of many Australian GeekDinner’s to come.
PS. If any of you have photos of the evening, please leave a comment pointing me at the site you have them on, and i will include them in the gallery…oh yeah….if you have registered on www.GeekDinner.com to receive email updates from us, watch your inbox…email and thankyou surprise coming soon… :)

Why don’t we organise a bloggers’ dinner in Sydney sometime?

There is a Meetup for bloggers - http://blog.meetup.com - but i haven’t actually ever attended one…it runs monthly and is on next week…the other option is to setup a get together of our own….anyone else interested???
