geekdinner.com goes live
Posted by Mick (SplaTT) Stanic under: GeekDinner .
Ever since my little trip to the US in February and the quick week I spent at the Microsoft campus in Redmond where Robert Scoble organised a geek dinner for a bunch of us “geeks”, I have been thinking about setting up a site that would help geeks organise dinners and get togethers…sort of like a meetup but for geeks only…
Well, finally its happened, last night I flicked the switch on www.geekdinner.com and opened it up to the world..now I know what you saying.. “but theres nothing but a form on the site yet”…well…good things take time and the first thing I need is peoples feedback on what they want….anyway….heres the blurb from the site…
“What is a Geek Dinner???
A Geek Dinner is an evening out with fellow geeks at an affordable venue (like a food court), preferably with WiFi, where you can dine and chat about all things geek. Hardware geeks, software geeks, web geeks, Microsoft geeks, Apple geeks….a geek dinner is for everyone….the greater the mix of people and backgrounds, the better the conversation.
geekdinner.com is all about helping you, the geek, to set up a geek dinner. We plan to provide dinner organisers, a calendar of upcoming dinners, reminder tools, a list of possible venue’s and interactive maps on how to get to them, area based weblogs for telling the world about your geek dinners, a moblog for all to take part in and you will be able to access all of this from your desktop, your PDA and even you mobile phone. Well…that’s the plan at least…
If you like the idea of geekdinner.com, fill in the form on the site to help us build a better site. Check the “receive news” box and we will keep in touch and tell you how things are going…we promise not to fill your inbox with junk… “
